Twelve Sentenced in US for $3.5 Million Crypto Theft with Home Invasion Ties
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has sentenced 12 individuals involved in a series of violent home invasions to steal over $3.5 million in cryptocurrency.
Remy Ra St Felix, the group’s leader, received 47 years in prison, and his accomplice. Seemungal, was sentenced to 20 years and ordered to pay over $4 million in restitution.
The gang used SIM swapping to access victims’ cryptocurrency accounts. Leading to violent home invasions where victims were held at gunpoint, beaten, and threatened. The stolen funds were laundered through cryptocurrencies and decentralized platforms.
