Tether Teams Up with US Agents in Historic $225M Crypto Crackdown

The U.S. Secret Service, with support from Tether, carried out its largest-ever crypto seizure, confiscating $225 million in USDT linked to a global “pig butchering” fraud scheme.
Tether collaborated closely with the Department of Justice, using real-time tracking and advanced analytics to help identify and freeze the illicit funds. The company has now blocked over $2.7 billion in USDT tied to criminal activity across 55 countries and 255 law enforcement agencies.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized the firm’s leadership in compliance and its commitment to protecting users from abuse in the digital asset space. This operation adds to a series of major enforcement actions Tether has supported, including freezing millions connected to sanctioned exchanges and international fraud networks.
