Starknet’s Alpha 13.0 Upgrade Receives Strong Community Support

The Ethereum Layer 2 network, Starknet, achieved community approval to implement the Alpha version 13.0 update on its mainnet, with over 99.8% of participating delegates supporting the proposal.
The v.13 update introduces transaction fee payments using both STRK and ether, with plans to eventually transition exclusively to STRK for fees. The upgrade, set to go live this Wednesday, aims to reduce transaction costs and enhance network performance, potentially cutting fees by 25-50%. Despite delaying the activation of STRK token payments until ensuring transferability, the v.13 upgrade signifies a significant step in optimizing Starknet’s functionality.
Operating as a decentralized Layer 2 network on Ethereum, Starknet utilizes a zero-knowledge roll-up solution to streamline multiple transactions before publishing them collectively on the Ethereum network. The Starknet Foundation, overseeing the network, intends to distribute 1.8 billion tokens as user rewards and rebates later this year, potentially including a community airdrop.
