Spot Bitcoin ETFs Drive Remarkable $1 Billion Inflows into Crypto Products
Total inflows into crypto investment products surpassed $1 billion last week, a remarkable feat driven by the historic launch of 10 spot Bitcoin ETFs.
According to a report from CoinShares, global inflows into exchange-traded products (ETPs) reached $1.18 billion, with the United States contributing a significant net increase of $1.24 billion to the crypto economy. This surge in inflows led to a new record in net trading volume for crypto industry ETFs, exceeding $17.5 billion in a seven-day period.
The launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs, different from their futures counterparts, involved actual buying and storing of Bitcoin by issuers on behalf of clients. Although these figures are impressive, they fall short of the record $1.5 billion inflows witnessed in October 2021 when the introduction of Bitcoin futures ETFs took place. Analysts caution against placing excessive emphasis on the initial performances of these ETFs, emphasizing their long-term nature in the eyes of Wall Street investors.
