Sonic Introduces Quantum-Ready Blockchain With Simpler, Future-Proof Design

Sonic is redesigning its blockchain architecture to prepare for the rise of quantum computing. Focusing on a simpler structure that can more easily adopt quantum-resistant cryptography.
The new approach removes complex signature aggregation methods commonly used in proof-of-stake networks, making future upgrades faster and less costly. The shift is driven by growing concerns that current cryptographic systems, such as elliptic curve signatures, could eventually be broken by quantum technologies. Sonic’s design allows the network to transition to more secure, hash-based cryptography without overhauling its entire system, significantly reducing technical barriers.
By simplifying its consensus model and using a DAG-based structure, Sonic aims to improve scalability while ensuring long-term security. This positions the network as an early mover in building blockchain infrastructure that can withstand future quantum threats.
