Solana’s Jupiter Prepares for Airdrop Bonanza with JUP Token and Memes
Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) aggregator, Jupiter, is gearing up for an airdrop of its JUP token on January 31, targeting nearly one million eligible wallets.
Prior to this, the platform will conduct a trial run of its launchpad by airdropping a meme coin—a gesture anticipated to be larger than the impending JUP drop. The meme coin, affiliated with Ovols, a “DeFi meets NFTs” Solana protocol, will leverage Jupiter’s technology for its debut before the grand launch of JUP. While details about the meme coin were initially vague, Jupiter’s founder, Meow, revealed that the airdrop would surpass the scale of the JUP airdrop.
Ovols will allocate 1% of its meme coin supply to Jupiter, with 75% designated for the forthcoming JUP DAO and the remaining 25% for Jupiter’s team. Jupiter has not disclosed the date for the Ovols meme coin airdrop but has slated it for this week. With further projects scheduled for February, Jupiter plans for a dynamic start for its launchpad following the scheduled JUP airdrop on January 31. The Solana ecosystem has recently witnessed a surge in popularity for meme coins, known for their volatility, and Jupiter’s strategic airdrop initiatives aim to add short-term excitement and value to the crypto community.
