Worldcoin (WLD) has marked a significant milestone with its launch in Singapore following a temporary pause in operations in India, Brazil, and France.
Founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the identity verification protocol has experienced a landmark year, highlighted by the introduction of World ID 2.0 and the open sourcing of the Worldcoin iris recognition pipeline in mid-December. In Singapore, individuals can now utilize the Orb, a helmet-shaped peripheral, to verify their unique identity by scanning their eyeballs. Despite the recent service pause in certain nations, Worldcoin remains optimistic about its global expansion, planning launches in cities across Spain, Germany, Chile, Argentina, and Japan.
The World App, a key component of the project, has achieved impressive metrics, boasting over five million users and 30 million transactions in 2023. With 1.7 million monthly active users, the World App has secured its place as the 5th most popular hot wallet globally, as reported by CoinGecko. The WLD is currently trading at $3.64, showcasing resilience in the market.
