Samourai Introduces BTC to XMR Atomic Swaps for Enhanced Onchain Privacy

Samourai, the privacy-oriented bitcoin wallet, has unveiled a BTC to XMR atomic swap feature to enhance onchain privacy in Bitcoin.
This innovation addresses the issue of tainted change, or leftover unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) from Whirlpool Coinjoins, potentially revolutionizing the cryptocurrency landscape. The atomic swap capability allows more discreet transactions between bitcoin (BTC) and monero (XMR), offering an efficient solution for managing tainted change. Samourai collaborated with Mysu wallet developer Pokkst to develop this feature.
This move comes in response to the persistent problem of tainted change within the Coinjoin scheme. Despite receiving praise from the privacy community, the feature has faced criticism from some bitcoin maximalists for utilizing monero (XMR). However, Samourai remains committed to its roadmap and development efforts. This development aligns with a period of shifting attitudes toward privacy features in the crypto space.
