Russia Gears Up for Crypto Payment Pilot Launch Next Week
Russia is set to begin trials for cryptocurrency exchanges and digital token payments on September 1 to counter payment challenges from international sanctions.
The National Payment Card System will facilitate ruble-to-crypto conversions and test payment platforms. Recent legislation legalizes crypto mining and regulates digital tokens for cross-border transactions under central bank oversight. If successful, the trials may lead to the establishment of cryptocurrency trading platforms in Moscow and St. Petersburg next year.
