Ripple’s RLUSD Gains Key Regulatory Approval in Abu Dhabi

Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD has secured a major regulatory milestone. After being officially recognized as an Accepted Fiat-Referenced Token by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in Abu Dhabi.
This designation allows licensed institutions within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) to use RLUSD for regulated financial activities. Banks, payment providers, fintech firms, brokers. And custodians operating under FSRA authorization can now integrate RLUSD into use cases such as payments, settlements, and collateral management.
RLUSD, launched in 2024 under a New York trust charter, is fully backed 1:1 by U.S. dollar reserves held in high-quality liquid assets. The stablecoin has grown rapidly, with its market cap recently surpassing US$1.2 billion. Driven by increasing institutional adoption and demand for compliant digital assets.
Ripple says the approval reinforces its regulatory-first approach and strengthens its expansion across the Middle East. A region actively developing frameworks for digital assets and blockchain-based financial infrastructure. With ADGM’s recognition, RLUSD is now positioned as a trusted, enterprise-ready stablecoin for global institutions seeking secure and compliant settlement solutions.
