Ripple Seeks Australian Financial License to Expand Blockchain Payments in Asia-Pacific

Ripple is seeking an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) as part of its plan to scale blockchain-based payments across the Asia-Pacific region.
The company is pursuing the license through the acquisition of payments firm BC Payments, which would place Ripple’s services inside Australia’s regulated financial system. If approved, the license would allow Ripple to manage the full cycle of cross-border payments, including compliance. Liquidity management, foreign exchange, and final settlement through a single platform. The move aims to simplify international transactions by connecting traditional banking rails with blockchain-based infrastructure.
Australia is seen as a key market for Ripple as the company expands its regulated footprint globally. Ripple already holds more than 75 regulatory licenses worldwide, and its payment volumes in the Asia-Pacific region nearly doubled in 2025. Reflecting growing demand for blockchain-powered financial infrastructure.
