Ripple Identifies Custody, Stablecoins, and Blockchain Operations as Core Drivers of Institutional Crypto Adoption

Ripple says banks are accelerating digital asset integration, with custody solutions, stablecoin issuance, and blockchain-driven operations emerging as the three biggest drivers of institutional adoption.

The company notes that institutions are no longer testing crypto at the edges but are scaling tokenization and stablecoin services in response to client demand for payments, hedging, and diversification. Ripple emphasizes custody as the foundation of this shift, with assets under custody projected to hit $16 trillion by 2030. Stablecoins are also becoming a key entry point, with Société Générale Forge launching a euro-backed token on the XRP Ledger and South Korea’s BDACS adopting Ripple’s RLUSD.

Governance is the third pillar, as banks look to replace outdated back-office systems with blockchain-based settlement and compliance tools. Ripple argues these advancements are reshaping institutional finance, even as critics warn centralized custody may dilute decentralization principles.
