Ripple Expands BBVA Partnership to Deliver Institutional Crypto Custody in Europe

Ripple has deepened its partnership with global banking giant BBVA, rolling out its digital asset custody technology to support the bank’s retail crypto services in Spain.
The move builds on BBVA’s earlier offerings in Switzerland and Turkey, and underscores Ripple’s growing role in regulated European markets. At the center of the deal is Ripple Custody, designed to provide institutional-grade security for tokenized assets, including bitcoin and ethereum. With the EU’s MiCA framework now in place, BBVA says customer demand and regulatory clarity are driving banks to scale digital asset services.
Ripple, already licensed in more than 60 jurisdictions, sees the collaboration as proof that leading banks are steadily embedding crypto into mainstream finance, even as debates continue over volatility and risk.
