Phoenix Group Opens 30MW Hydropower-Powered Crypto Mining Facility in Ethiopia

Phoenix Group, a mining and digital infrastructure company based in Abu Dhabi, has launched a 30-megawatt hydropower-backed crypto mining facility in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The site, located in the Bole Lemi Industrial Park and developed in partnership with Ethiopian Electric Power, spans over 6,000 square meters and adds approximately 1.9 EH/s to Phoenix’s global mining capacity.

The facility marks a major step in Phoenix Group’s plan to expand its total computing power to one gigawatt worldwide. By harnessing Ethiopia’s renewable hydropower resources, the company aims to promote sustainable and energy-efficient crypto mining operations. The project also highlights Ethiopia’s growing role as an emerging destination for digital infrastructure and clean-energy blockchain investment.
