Paypal’s Stablecoin Growth Sparks Interest in Stablecoin Markets
In the past month, Paypal’s PYUSD stablecoin has experienced remarkable growth, surging over 72% from 167.83 million to 289.43 million PYUSD.
Introduced on the Ethereum blockchain five months ago, the supply of PYUSD initially stood at 43.3 million, concentrated among the top 100 holders. However, in the last 30 days, the supply has expanded by 72.4%, reaching its current total. With 4,943 distinct addresses holding PYUSD, it has risen to become the tenth-largest stablecoin by market value, closely trailing pax dollar (USDP).
Noteworthy shifts include Crypto.com becoming the largest PYUSD holder, holding 38.76% of the supply, followed by Defiance Capital and Kraken. While modest compared to giants like USDC and USDT, PYUSD stands out with an A- rating according to bluechip.org, signaling a growing trend in stablecoin adoption backed by established financial entities. The evolving landscape of PYUSD offers insights into the dynamic nature of fiat-backed tokens and their increasing role in the financial ecosystem.
