Palau and Ripple Launch Pilot for U.S. Dollar-Pegged Stablecoin

Palau, an island nation in the Philippines Sea, has joined forces with Ripple to conduct a limited pilot of its U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin using XRP technology.
The test, initiated about three weeks ago, aims to validate the stablecoin system’s design. Palau’s Ministry of Finance, represented by Jay Hunter Anson, has been distributing Palau’s Stablecoin (PSC) during the pilot.
The project seeks to digitize the U.S. dollar in collaboration with Ripple’s XRPL blockchain and could potentially revolutionize payment methods in Palau. The pilot has expanded to include more vendors and volunteer users, with the government envisioning reduced transaction costs and broader financial inclusion through digital means.
President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. highlights the country’s ambition to enhance financial transactions and empower citizens by embracing digital currency.
