OCC Confirms U.S. Banks Can Now Facilitate Regulated Crypto Trade Execution

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has clarified that national banks in the United States are permitted to execute regulated cryptocurrency trades using a “riskless principal” model.
This means banks can match a customer’s buy and sell orders simultaneously without taking crypto onto their own balance sheets. Allowing them to offer trading services while avoiding market-exposure risk. The update expands the role of traditional banks in digital assets, giving institutions a compliant pathway to support crypto trading. Improve market access for customers, and compete more directly with established crypto brokers and exchanges.
