NYSE, Nasdaq, and Cboe Shift Crypto ETF Options to Liquidity-Based Limits

Major U.S. exchanges including NYSE, Nasdaq, and Cboe are adopting a new framework for crypto ETF options that replaces fixed position caps with liquidity-driven limits.

The shift allows trading limits to scale dynamically based on market activity, enabling larger positions in Bitcoin and Ethereum-linked derivatives. Previously, crypto ETF options were restricted by fixed caps such as 25,000 contracts, limiting institutional participation. Under the new model, exchanges can expand limits as liquidity grows, while also introducing more flexible instruments like FLEX options across qualifying ETFs.

The move signals deeper integration of crypto into traditional financial markets. As derivatives tied to digital assets become more accessible to institutional investors. Analysts say liquidity-based frameworks could improve price discovery, increase trading volume, and accelerate the maturation of crypto-linked financial products.
