New Digital Asset Management Firm Emerges from SBI and Franklin Templeton Alliance
Japan’s SBI Holdings is teaming up with U.S. asset manager Franklin Templeton to launch a new investment management firm focused on digital assets by year-end.
SBI Holdings will own 51% of the joint venture, while Franklin Templeton will hold 49%. This initiative follows the SEC’s recent approval of spot cryptocurrency ETFs, including those for bitcoin and ethereum, with spot ether ETFs launching in the U.S. this week. Japan is also considering deregulation in the digital asset sector.
