Musk Claims DOGE Could Save Governments $2 Trillion: “The Future Looks Incredible
During a recent Donald Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced his plans to lead the proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to cut federal spending by at least $2 trillion.
The Treasury Department reports that the federal government’s budget for fiscal year 2024 is $6.75 trillion. Responding to Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick’s question about potential savings, Musk confidently stated, “I think we can do at least two trillion.” He emphasized that all government spending amounts to taxation, urging that the new department will reduce waste and alleviate financial burdens on citizens. Musk promised that America will reach unprecedented heights, asserting, “The future is going to be amazing.”
Musk’s leadership of DOGE, focused on budget reform and government audits, could significantly impact agencies regulating Tesla and SpaceX, especially if Trump wins the upcoming election. Additionally, Musk is promoting a daily $1 million giveaway to support a petition for government reform, although this initiative has attracted scrutiny from the Justice Department for possible legal issues.
