McDonald’s Introduces Limited Edition Grimace NFTs in Singapore Giveaway

Fast food icon Grimace is making an entry into the NFT space through a McDonald’s giveaway in Singapore, following a viral TikTok trend featuring purple shakes.

McDonald’s Singapore will distribute 2,000 NFT collectibles featuring the quirky purple character, with each NFT having unique attributes and expressions. While the McDonald’s mobile app in Singapore will provide free access to the NFTs, the tokens mint them on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network, and they have a design as “soulbound” tokens that prevent their transfer after minting.

Collaboration with crypto startup Bandwagon Labs and NFT artist The Hidden Walls facilitated this initiative, and Grimace NFT owners will enjoy exclusive rewards in the future. McDonald’s showcases ongoing involvement in the crypto realm, as it had previously explored the metaverse game The Sandbox and released NFTs across multiple markets.
