Louisiana Introduces Cryptocurrency Payment Options for State Services

Louisiana has announced that residents can now pay for state services using bitcoin, bitcoin lightning, and USD Coin through secure crypto wallets.

State Treasurer John Fleming emphasized that this innovative move offers citizens greater flexibility and freedom in interacting with state services. The first cryptocurrency payment was made to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. While the state does not handle cryptocurrencies directly. A service converts these payments into U.S. dollars, ensuring smooth transactions.
