GOP Candidate Ramaswamy Calls for Urgent Reforms in Cryptocurrency Regulations

Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took a strong stance against the perceived inaction of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and its chair, Gary Gensler, in addressing crypto fraud cases.
During the 4th GOP debate, Ramaswamy criticized the existing regulatory framework, citing its inadequacy in dealing with prominent cases such as the FTX bankruptcy linked to its founder, Sam Bankman Fried (SBF). Responding to concerns about potential freedom for fraudsters, criminals, and terrorists under his crypto policies, Ramaswamy emphasized the urgency for regulatory updates, pointing to SBF’s actions as evidence of the current system’s shortcomings.
He specifically called out SEC Chair Gary Gensler for his perceived shortcomings in understanding the regulatory status of Ether. Ramaswamy concluded by expressing his dissatisfaction with the influence of bureaucratic agencies, asserting that if elected, he would roll back most of the SEC’s crypto regulations.
