Ethereum Foundation Launches ‘Attackathon’ to Strengthen Blockchain Security, Aims for $2,000,000 in Rewards
The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is launching a month-long initiative to enhance the security of Ethereum, the second-largest blockchain by market capitalization.
Coordinated by the Ethereum Protocol Security (EPS) Research Team, the initiative involves Immunefi hosting an Ethereum protocol “Attackathon” over four weeks. This event aims to audit and strengthen the protocol’s security by identifying potential vulnerabilities in its code through a large-scale crowdsourced competition. The EF has committed an initial $500,000 to seed a reward pool, with a goal to raise over $2 million.
Following the Attackathon, Immunefi will compile findings into a comprehensive report, recognizing top researchers and their contributions with NFTs and placements on a Sponsorship Leaderboard. Participants stand to gain significant rewards, reputation boosts, and access to an educational program aimed at expanding Ethereum’s security researcher community.
