Court Orders Nigerian Prison to Provide Medical Records of Tigran Gambaryan
Despite a court order, Nigerian prison officials at the Kuje Detention Centre have not released the medical records of Tigran Gambaryan, the Binance executive who remains jailed.
A campaign group advocating for his release disclosed that Federal Court Judge Emeka Nwite has issued a subsequent order, compelling officials to provide Gambaryan’s lawyers with the records by July 5. Reports indicate Gambaryan’s health has deteriorated, citing numbness in his foot and complaints of back pain, possibly exacerbated by malaria and double pneumonia.
Concern over his condition has prompted appeals from his family, supporters like U.S. lawmakers French Hill and Chrissy Houlahan, and Gambaryan’s wife, Yuki, who urged Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop the charges against him, citing lack of justification for his continued detention.
