Confident Crypto Leaders Anticipate SEC Approval for Spot Bitcoin ETFs

All eyes are focused on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as it evaluates numerous applications for a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). And prominent figures in the crypto space are now confidently predicting the agency’s eventual approval.
Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, a crypto investment manager. Revealed this week that an imminent launch of such a financial product is expected within four to six months, based on insider insights. Novogratz highlighted the sentiments of both Invesco and BlackRock. Suggesting that it’s a matter of “when, not if,” during an earnings call. Galaxy Digital partnered with Invesco in June to reapply for a spot ETF. Joining several other firms in renewed attempts following BlackRock’s previous effort. Presently, nine active Bitcoin spot ETF applications await SEC endorsement. Many investors anticipate that the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF will attract institutional investment. Potentially propelling the asset’s value. Consequently, applicants are in a competitive race to secure the first approval. Aiming to secure a substantial market share early on.
Novogratz emphasized their determination to capture market dominance upon approval, acknowledging its significance. While the initial approval of ProShares’ Bitcoin futures ETF in October 2021 led to significant inflows, the current wave of spot ETF applications, with similar structures, might not receive preferential treatment from the SEC. Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Investment Management, speculated that the SEC could potentially approve multiple Bitcoin ETFs simultaneously, avoiding favoritism. Wood’s Ark21 Shares ETF is next in line for potential approval on August 13, although an extension is anticipated. Grayscale, engaged in legal action against the SEC for approval, has argued that the agency must endorse multiple ETFs concurrently to ensure fairness and equity.
