Chinese Bitcoin Miners Eye U.S. Relocation to Dodge Trump Tariffs

China’s top three Bitcoin mining hardware makers—Bitmain, Canaan, and MicroBT—are establishing manufacturing operations in the U.S. to sidestep new tariffs introduced under former President Trump’s trade policies.
Bitmain began U.S. production in December, while Canaan launched trial runs and MicroBT is localizing operations to avoid import duties. The shift comes as U.S.-based startup Auradine calls for limiting Chinese hardware imports to boost domestic competition, citing national security concerns. Although Chinese rigs dominate over 90% of global supply, Canaan insists they pose no threat unless actively used for mining.
