Cardano’s DeFi Landscape Flourishes with Native Protocols and Growth

Cardano (ADA) has steadily expanded its presence in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) realm since introducing its initial native DeFi protocols in early 2022.
Despite being one of the early Layer-1 blockchains for smart contracts, Cardano underwent a period of development before becoming accessible for public development and application deployment. The Total Value Locked (TVL) in Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem, measured in the native token ADA, recently reached a new peak on August 8. This growth is evident across all 24 protocols within Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem.
Cardano is making progress in ascending the TVL rankings among other chains, currently occupying the 13th position on DefiLlama when considering amounts locked in US dollars (USD). This reflects a significant surge in a 30-day period. A notable portion of the Total Value Locked is attributed to stablecoins. Notably, Indigo USD (IUSD) stands out with a dominant presence among all stablecoins utilized on Cardano.
In terms of DeFi protocols, Minswap (MIN), a Decentralized Exchange (DEX), leads the way on Cardano with the highest Total Value Locked. Indigo (INDY) and Liqwid (LQ) follow closely behind as significant contributors to the ecosystem’s DeFi landscape.
