BitPay Enhances User Accessibility With Support For Multiple Cryptocurrencies

BitPay, originally a bitcoin payments startup, has expanded its support to include “dozens” of cryptocurrencies such as Uniswap, Chainlink, and BNB, reinforcing its commitment to making crypto payments accessible.
CEO Stephen Pair emphasized the platform’s user-friendly approach, inviting customers to use their crypto for a range of transactions, from purchases at luxury brands like Gucci and Ralph Lauren to car and mortgage payments. BitPay is also planning to introduce payment support for Cronos and Basic Attention Token, among numerous others.
This move aligns with the broader trend among web3 companies striving to facilitate the accessibility and utilization of various tokens beyond bitcoin. While BitPay initially heavily processed bitcoin payments in 2020, the platform’s recent expansion reflects its evolving stance, garnering support for a diverse array of cryptocurrencies. Since its establishment in 2011, the Atlanta-based company has raised over $70 million in funding from prominent firms like Founders Fund, Index Ventures, Virgin Group, and Aquiline Technology Growth.
