Bitcoin Adoption Surges Across MENA as Crypto Transaction Volume Reaches $350 Billion

Crypto activity across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has more than tripled. With annual onchain transaction volume rising from roughly $100 billion in 2022 to an estimated $350 billion by 2025–2026.
Turkey leads the region with close to $200 billion in annual volume, while the UAE processed about $150 billion in 2025. Saudi Arabia and Qatar recorded particularly rapid growth of 154% and 120%, respectively. The growth reflects two different adoption trends. In countries facing inflation, currency weakness or geopolitical instability, Bitcoin and dollar-backed stablecoins are increasingly used to preserve value, while Gulf markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are building regulated digital-asset ecosystems as part of broader economic diversification. In the UAE, Bitcoin represents about 38% of crypto trading activity, ahead of ether at 22%. The trend suggests Bitcoin is gaining ground in MENA both as a financial hedge and as part of an increasingly institutionalized digital-asset market.
