Binance’s Lightning Network Surge: A Major Boost in Bitcoin’s Ecosystem

Renowned Chinese journalist Colin Wu has reported significant developments in Binance’s participation in the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
Wu’s tweet referenced insights from Amboss Space, a lightning network explorer tool, revealing substantial growth in Binance’s Bitcoin Lightning nodes. Over the past week, Binance’s public channels in the Lightning Network increased from 7 to 33, with channel capacity soaring from 36 Bitcoin (BTC) to 77.73 BTC. This capacity surge has elevated Binance’s position, making it the fourteenth largest node by Lightning Network capacity. The broader network’s capacity is 4,859.37 BTC.
Binance’s active engagement and investment in the Lightning Network emphasize its role in expanding Bitcoin’s layer-2 scaling solution. Amboss Space provided further context, indicating a network with 17,949 nodes and 73,359 channels. Binance’s growth metrics, showcased by Amboss Space, illustrate a 69% increase in capacity, reaching 7,773,000,000 satoshis, and a 175% growth in channels, reaching 33. The channel sizes span from 14 BTC to 1,100 satoshis, with average and median sizes of 235,545,455 and 200,000,000 satoshis, respectively.
