Binance Pay Expands Crypto Payments to 3,700 Merchants Across Bhutan
Binance Pay has expanded its presence in Bhutan through an integration with DK Bank’s domestic QR payment network. Allowing travelers and local customers to spend cryptocurrency at more than 3,700 merchants nationwide.
Customers simply scan the merchants’ existing QR codes using Binance Pay and enter the purchase amount in Bhutanese ngultrum (BTN), while the system automatically handles foreign-exchange conversion and settles the transaction in USDT, meaning merchants do not need to directly manage cryptocurrency. The expansion builds on Bhutan’s initial crypto tourism payment rollout. Which launched with just over 100 participating merchants in May 2025, representing a substantial increase in real-world acceptance. Binance is also offering zero additional customer fees through Dec. 31, 2026 as part of the rollout.
The integration is particularly notable because it embeds crypto payments into an existing national QR infrastructure rather than requiring businesses to install separate crypto payment systems. Demonstrating how stablecoins and digital assets can be integrated into everyday commerce with minimal changes for merchants.
