Binance CEO Warns Europe Could Lose Crypto Leadership if MiCA Rules Become Fragmented

Binance CEO Richard Teng has warned that Europe’s position as a global leader in cryptocurrency regulation could be at risk. If the implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework becomes inconsistent across EU member states.

While MiCA was designed to create a unified regulatory environment for digital assets, Teng argued that differing interpretations and licensing standards among national regulators could undermine the framework’s effectiveness. Increase compliance costs, and discourage innovation. He emphasized that a harmonized approach is essential to attract global crypto businesses and maintain Europe’s competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving digital asset industry.

The comments come as MiCA enters its full implementation phase. With regulators tightening oversight and requiring crypto firms to secure licenses or cease operations across the European Union.
