Bhutan’s $828M Bitcoin Stash Exposed by Arkham Data
The government of Bhutan holds over $828 million in bitcoin, according to data from Arkham Intelligence. Unlike other governments, Bhutan’s BTC is not from asset seizures but from mining operations, which have expanded significantly since early 2023.
Arkham tracked these activities, confirming that the kingdom’s investment arm, Druk Holdings, operates multiple mining facilities, including one on the former Education City project site. Using satellite imagery, Arkham matched the construction timeline with on-chain mining data to verify Bhutan’s substantial bitcoin holdings.
