Bank of America Projects S&P 500 to Hit 9,900 by 2027 Despite Bubble Warnings

Bank of America analysts have issued a bold forecast, predicting the S&P 500 will climb more than 50% to reach 9,914 by September 2027.
The bank cites historical precedent, noting that past bull markets have delivered average gains of 177% over 59 months, with stocks already up about 80% since October 2022 lows. However, some analysts caution against relying too heavily on history, with NorthmanTrader’s Sven Henrich criticizing the outlook for assuming past performance guarantees future results.
The S&P 500 currently trades near 6,448, while Bank of America’s own surveys show 91% of fund managers view U.S. equities as overvalued. Strategist Michael Hartnett has also warned of bubble risks, even as the bank highlights gold, commodities, crypto, and emerging markets as potential winners in a weakening dollar environment.
