Allegations Surface: US Bank Freezes Account, Declares Customer Deceased Amidst Suspected Fraudulent Calls

One of the major US banks faces accusations of abruptly closing a customer’s account following false reports of his death through fake phone calls.
The California-based crane operator, known as Crane Daddy on TikTok, revealed in a video that the bank, identified as US Bank, froze his account and sent a check to an address on record, leaving him financially stranded. Despite his 20-year history with the bank and a request for an explanation, US Bank allegedly refused to reinstate the account promptly. The customer claimed that two phony calls declaring his death triggered the account shutdown. While the bank eventually partially reinstated the account, certain transactions remained restricted.
Dissatisfied with the service, the customer obtained his funds and opted to open a new account elsewhere. Although he maintains accounts for his mortgage and car payments with the bank, the incident has left him wary, citing a negative impact on his customer trust.
