Abu Dhabi’s $430 Billion Asset Manager Tokenizes Private Fund as Coinbase Invests

Mubadala Capital, the alternative asset management arm of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, has launched a tokenized version of its Alternative Solutions Fund, marking one of the largest institutional moves into blockchain-based private markets to date.

The fund, which manages private equity, direct investments, and credit strategies, is available on multiple blockchain networks including Base, Solana, and Sui, with approximately $75 million already deployed on-chain. In a notable vote of confidence, Coinbase has also taken a direct balance sheet stake in the fund, highlighting growing institutional demand for tokenized real-world assets. The initiative reflects a broader trend of major asset managers using blockchain to improve fund distribution, transparency, and operational efficiency, reinforcing the rapid adoption of tokenized investment products across global financial markets.
